Subject: Rockport Cemetery
My Great Great Great Grandfather James B. Pryor obtained land grants in Pike county in 1840 and the Pryor family grew. I believe that a large number including Alfred S Pryor, Emily Pryor, Nancy Pryor, Mary Pryor, Vermie and Dottie Pryor as well as James may all be buried there. Another large segment of my family was buried in the Hornbeck Cemetery.

Does anyone have additional information regarding the Rockport Cemetery?

John A. Pryor (son of James B. and Lewis Luther Pryor (grandson of John) both served as postmasters in Rockport.

rockport cemetary has been let go and nobody cares, Land owners the barrowmans of rockport drove a bulldozer threw the middle of the cemetary up turning graves to make an easier passage to the top of the bluff.Theres still about 30 or so i seen when i was up there, but trees have grown threw whats left and fallen all over. Its hard to find because the county road that gos to the top is unmarked and changed. located beside a house it looks like a driveway. Its a crying shame how people can let such a piece of history go, but if you were buried in the 30,s or before, nobody cares.

What are the directions to drive up. I am not sure where this is. I went to one that is rather right up the hill in behind I believe where the Cox's lived there are some graves on the right andthen I think you can go on up the hill. I was there briefly and it was when there was so much going on with the Ball cemetery I was really afraid of getting arrested or something. But other than that I am not placing it. Thanks.
