Newspaper Article: Arthur HIGDON Comes Home

Pike Co. Republican, page 5, Wednesday June 29, 1926 Arthur HIGDON, for over a year a patient in St. John's Sanitarium, Springfield, was brought to the William Lemons home on N. Memorial recently. He is suffering from tuberculosis and there seems no hope of recovery. Mr. HIGDON is living in a tent and is being cared for by his wife, formerly Maggie (Lemons) Beetle....

ARTHUR FRANK HIGDON, who had long suffered from tuberculosis, died at the William Lemons Home on North Memorial Thursday morning. On June 6, he was brought here from St. John's hospital, Springfield, where he had been a patient for more than a year. The Pike Sanatorium board had paid the weekly bill. Mr. HIGDON was a son of Samuel HIGDON and was born at Griggsville in 1889. He is survived by his wife, Margaret (Lemons) HIGDON who works at the shoe factory. There are also several brothers and sisters. Funeral services in charge of Rev. J. W. Starr were held Friday and internment was in the West Cemetery. Mrs. HIGDON's first husband, Grover Beedle, also died after a siege of tuberculosis.
