Quincy Daily Herald, January 11, 1877, Page 3

John Blake, of this city, for many years past the foreman of the Whig job rooms, died yesterday morning in St. Louis. The deceased came to this city from Chicago, about eight years ago and until compelled to give up business on account of ill health was connected with the Whig. He was an excellent printer and before coming to Quincy, held for several years the position of foreman of the job department of the Chicago Morning Post, at that time one of the best job establishments in that city. He went to St. Louis a few weeks ago in the hope of benifiting his health. He leaves a wife and one child. He will be missed by a large circle of friends.
