Early Adams County Treasurer's Office

The writing on the back of this photograph says it depicts the Adams County Clerks Office, Quincy, IL. Jim McKammey (sp?) is in the foreground.

A close look at the photograph shows, in the back, a safe which says very clearly "Adams County Treasurer". So the photo is more than likely the Treasurer's Office and Jim McKammey was the County Treasurer. Photo known be taken before 1884.

Collier Photos

On the left is Lucy J. Collier. On the right, Lucretia Collier. Lucretia died in Payson, IL, in 1882. In her will, Lucretia lists Carrie Cox (the mother of James Pike Cox) as her granddaughter and heir. Lucy (on the left), her daughter, never married, and after Lucretia's death in 1882, Lucy went to Kansas to live with Abijah and Emily Mann (Emily was Lucretia's sister).

It is from Lucretia that stories of Abraham Lincoln have been passed down as she was born and raised in the same area as Abraham Lincoln and 'her father' talked with Lincoln and bought items from his store.
