Helen Bexten Obituary

Helen H. Bexten, 95, of the Good Samaritan Home, died at 11:55 p.m. Saturday (May 30, 1992) in the home where she had lived for the past 20 years.

Born March 21, 1897, in Quincy, Mrs. Bexten was a daughter of Henry and Anna Terwische Ostermiller. She married H. Everett Bexten May 8, 1929, in Springfield. He died Jan. 31, 1930. Mrs. Bexten was secretary at Western Catholic Union Insurance Co. for 47 years, serving under four presidents. She retired April 30, 1962. She attended Gem City Business College and was a member of St. Francis Catholic Church, Good Samaritan Home Auxiliary, Retired Senior Volunteer Program, St. Barbara Branch 203 of WCU, and Ladies of Charity.

Survivors include four nephews, Raymond Ostermiller of Terre Haute, Ind., Eugene Ostermiller of Camp Point, Robert Ostermiller of Waukegan and Donald Ostermiller of Quincy; a niece, Mary Ann Ostermiller of Quincy; 10 great-nieces and great- nephews; and 13 great-great- nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Bexten was preceded in death by two brothers, Joseph H. and Frank Ostermiller; two sisters, Clara and Irene Ostermiller; and a nephew, Virgil R. Ostermiller; a great-nephew; and a great-great-niece.

Services will be conducted at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday in the Duker and Haugh Funeral Home and 10 a.m. in St. Francis Catholic Church. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery.

Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday and until time of services Wednesday in the funeral home with a vigil service at 7 p.m. Tuesday.

Memorials may be made to St. Francis Catholic Church or the charity of the donor's choice.
