Jonathan WALK was born in 1769 at Rowan County, North Carolina. In 1795 he married Sarah Catherine FRANK (1776 to after 1850) at Rowan County. Sarah was the half-niece of Jonathan. They were the parents of 11 known children. They famiy moved from North Carolina to Pike County, Illinois before 1834. Their children were:

1. Barbara WALK (c1796-???) married Neal McGILL and then Absalom KEPLEY. Thought to have remained in NC.

2. David WALK (c1798-???) Married: 1) Margaret (Peggy) BARRETT in 1819 at Davidson County, NC. 2) Susanna HIGGINS in 1839 at Pike Co., IL; 3) Sarah Jane WILLIAMS in 1848 at Pike Co., IL. The family was living at Pike Co., IL in 1850. In 1858 a Sarah J. WALK married John SMITH at Pike Co., IL. Was this the widow of David? David was father of Peter Kingsberry WALK (1821 to c1850-58) who married Rohanna LACY in 1843 at Pike Co., IL; Elizabeth (1824-???); Jonathan (1827-1849; listed in 1850 Pike Co., IL mortality schedule); Margaret Martha (1829-1908) married David Burton Cook (1822-1896) in 1846 at Pike Co., IL and had eight children; Wiley Woodson WALK (1832-1906) married Matilda Lodema BATTERSHELL (1844-1946) in 1865 at Pike Co., IL and moved to Macoupon Co., IL and had eight children; and Joseph WALK (1849-???) married Adaline HANEY (1838-???) in 1878 at Scott Co., IL. David's grandchildren married into: BIDDLE, SMOTHERS, BARLOW, MITCHEL, BATTLEY and WELLS families.

3. Teter Kingsberry WALK (c1801-c1839) married Susanna Elizabeth GOBBEL (1813-1836) in 1829 at Davidson Co., NC. Susanna died in NC and then Teter came to Pike Co., IL with his three children where he died. Children were: Hiram WALK (1828-before 1849); Burril (lots of different spellings!) WALK (1832-1914) married Eliza Jane ROLLAND (1842-1888) in 1861 at Pike Co., IL where they lived their lives at Montezuma. Parents of eleven children.; David WALK (1835-1916) married Sarah Jane McKEEVERS (1840-1928) in 1858 at Pike Co., IL. Lived their lives at Montezuma, Pike Co., IL where they had ten children. Teter's grandchildren married into ROSS, CUMBY, McEVERS, McGREGOR, MARTIN, NEESE, FRENCH, SAVAGE, HAWKINS, CRAWFORD, TANNEHILL, DANIELS, SPRINGER and FERGUSON families in Pike and Scott Counties, IL.

4. Elizabeth WALK (1803-1858) married John Anderson WILLIAMS (1799-1876) in 1820 at Davidson County, NC. They had 12 children and moved to Pike Co., IL in 1834. After Elizabeth died John married Martha Carolina Clemmons (1824- 1905) in 1859) and moved out of state, ending up at Pettis County, Missouri. Some of the children stayed in Pike Co., IL. Elizabeth's children and grandchildren married into: ELLEDGE, NICOLAY, ALLEN, JONES, CARTER, BROWN, JOHNSON, COWLEY, CLEMMONS, HOSFORD, HALL, FOREMAN, EAGLE, HAYDEN, SCANDLAND, GALLAGHER, SIEBERT, SANDERSON and HUTSONPILLER families in Pike Co., IL.

5. Samuel WALK (1805 to after 1870 at Parke Co., IL). He married: 1) Margaret (May Ann) GOBBEL (1802-1830) in 1829 at Davidson Co., NC and 2) Susannah (Hannah) ADELTON (1816-1854) in 1833 at Davidson Co., NC. They moved to Pike Co., IL in c1835. Samuel was father of nine children. Hannah died at Pike Co., IL. Very little known about children, one married into ALLISON family.

6. Wiley W. WALK (1807-???) Moved to El Dorado County, California in about 1852. Married Margaret E. GOBBEL (1811-???) in 1830 at Davidson Co., NC. Moved to Pike Co., IL shortly afterwards. Parents of: James Addison WALK (1831-???); John Welburn WALK (1833-???) and George M. WALK (1836-1859).

7. Mahala WALK (1809-1882). Died at Pike Co., IL. Never married but mother of Jasper F. WALK (1839-1922) who married Rachel Lane ANTHONY (1841-???) in 1860 at Pike Co, IL. They had eight children and lived lives at Montezuma, Pike Co., IL. Their children married into COLVIN, ROSS and DANIELS families.

8. Narangelina (Angelina) WALK (1811-1887) married James C. DILLON (1812-1883) in 1839 at Pike Co., IL. Parents of six DILLON children. Lived lives at Montezuma, Pike Co., IL. One daughter married into BRYAN family.

9. Sarah Catherine WALK (c1832-???) married Robert J. FOSTER (1809-1860) in 1843 at Pike Co., IL. Parents of two known children: Sarah E. (b. 1844) and John R. (b. 1846). Living at Scott Co., IL in 1850. Catherine may have died before 1860. Nothing known of children.

10. Isabella WALK (1816-1861). Never married. Lived at Montezuma, Pike Co., IL.

11. John F. WALK (1818-1904) Moved to El Dorado County, California in about 1852. Married Nicena (Cena) ADAIR (1826-1884) in 1846 at Pike Co., IL. Parents of nine children. Buried at Windsor, Sonoma Co., CA.

In 1850 the mother Sarah (1776-???) was still living at Pike county, Illinois with unmarried daughters Mahala and Isabella. Did she die in Pike County or move to Iowa?
