After the Civil War, George CRONINGER resided from 1865 to 1910 in Adams and Pike Co., Illinois, P.O. Quincy and Baylis, IL, respectively. I am trying to trace his descendants since I have reason to suspect this may be the family from which my grandfather, Charlie ODLE (1901/1903-1961) , was adopted. Any bits of info would be helpful. 1880 census of New Salem twp., Pike Co., Illinois, taken on 9 June, 1880: 185-195: Geo. Croninger, age 47, married, blacksmith, b. Ohio, father b. N.Y(should say PA., mother b. PA (should say NY). Catherine Croninger, 45, wife, housekeeper, b. Illinois, father b. Tenn, Ma b. Tenn. Ada Croninger, age 11, daughter, at school, b. Illinois father b. Ohio, ma b. Ill. They may have also been raising two children from George's previous marriage: Charlie J. Croninger (b. Sep 8, 1856) and Mary H. (b. November 04, 1858). |
